@psankar in regular keyword search, v need 2 do a full text search on the tweet. In case of persisted hashtag, its enough 2 do on dat field.

@psankar when a user posts some msg, will parse using regex n persist the msg along with hashtags n mentions.

@psankar yes, permananent storage. scaling in terms of storage or retreival? mongodb index should be good enough. (haven’t tested its limts)

@psankar every document will have the list of hashtags (same for mentions) for easy retrieval / indexing.

@psankar used mongodb to store the status msg as a document. used basic regex for parsing the hashtags n was persisting hashtags in the db.

@psankar I’ve implemented that feature in an internal portal. Just modelled hashtags as a special case of search.
